There are many couples who would benefit greatly from our program; however, they may not attend because of financial difficulties. Our scholarship fund enables; returning military, unemployed and underemployed couples who are going through a difficult time to take advantage of our program at no cost to them. There is a non-refundable registration fee for our Marriage Encounters of $220 and $150 for our Engaged Encounters. A free-will donation will also be requested on the weekend. We give a suggested donation, however, we make it very clear on the weekend the attending couples pay what they are able to pay. Any donation given over and above the registration fee is tax-deductible because it is a free-will donation.
Following is a quotes from a couple who attended one of our weekends on a scholarship:
“We want to thank Marriage Encounter for a wonderful week-end and for the organization providing a scholarship for us to attend. We got married in Aug of 2011. I have 2 boys ages 11 and 6 and my wife has a daughter 16 and a son 13. We weren’t prepared for the stress and conflict that was to come; becoming step-parents and all that goes with that. We were all but ready to just give up and I came across your website. I asked her to attend to see what would happen, if anything at all. By the midmorning and afternoon of the first day; we both realized how serious this was and what we needed to think about.
The first question posed to us by the mentor coupes was, ‘Name your two happiest times together.’ We both ended up naming the same two times. It was a great way to start off the week-end. The forgiveness theme with the lights down and the candles lit, was really the turning-point in the week-end for us. Learning how and to forgive with tears flowing from our eyes was a miracle.
Although we both know that all of our problems cannot be fixed in 48 hours, Marriage Encounters made us think and reconnect like never before. I can say that we now have the tools and the mindset going forward to put Christ first and make this marriage work.
If it wasn’t for the scholarship program, I don’t know what would have happened over these last few weeks. We made some good friends who also share the same issues and are excited to attend the reunion in a few weeks and continue those friendships hopefully for a lifetime.”
